Annual General Meeting

Mayor Cllr Tim Ahern enjoyed the Pepper Pot’s experience at the 18th annual general meeting of the
Pepper Pot Day Centre. He praised our founder Pansy Jeffrey for her dedication and perseverance.
He specially thanked several individuals for their support of the work at the centre , to include Elizabeth Vice who served as a volunteer for twenty five years and is retiring as secretary from the friends, other volunteers were Stephen Duckworth, Deen Bacchus, and Eudene Blackman was also praised for their work.
The highlight was the delivery of a cheque for £220,000 from the Big Lottery.

Carnival At The Centre

Celebrating the Notting Hill Carnival at Pepper Pot this year was something to be remembered. Not only did some members hit the streets and take in the scenery, but Pepper Pot also held it’s annual Carnival Party for the members and staff at the Day Centre. It was an eventful day, everyone enjoyed the food,
music and dancing. We were also treated to a Steel Band performance by 15 year old Darren Charles, who proved to be extremely talented. I think I speak for all when I say roll on next year!!!

Arts and Crafts

Craft as an activity at the centre is very central and participatory.  Members who are involved find it both rewarding and that it keeps their minds stimulated.

My intention as a tutor is to get members in the act of doing and not to feel  intimidated by the creative process.  Even if it is to stick, scratch, scribble and paint using any medium in the creation of different objects of art.  Art is used to stimulate the senses and enable members to enjoy the aesthetics of life.

Also, art can make you feel calm and at peace when engaging.  And it contributes to the mental well being of all those who take part.

Morgan Baptise:  “The Opportunity to take part in or experience high quality art activities can change peoples lives”
